What you need:
Windows NT4 must have at least Service Pack 3 installed for DirectX 3 support.
I have not tried running pod without 3Dfx support. I cannot guarantee that it will work well. I can say, however, that the 3dfx version works near perfectly, but you must make sure you have the 3dfx GLiDE driver for Windows NT4 and for your type of 3dfx card installed.
The 24MB 3dfx patch from the Patch-Choice Page on the Ubisoft POD website.
What to do:
Run the installer, and choose the SMALL install size. Before pressing the button to continue, click on the Software Tests button. Uncheck the DirectX option - As SP3 has already installed DX3 for NT, you don't want to louse things up by getting Win95 stuff mixed in by accident.
Continue as normal, choosing the folder, blah blah blah. The installation WILL fail when setup tries to make a registry entry for the Indeo drivers and it will automatically uninstall, which is why you use the small install the first time around, its quicker to install/then uninstall. But now the Intel Indeo Video drivers will be present and setup does not delete them during the uninstall.
Run setup again. This time, choose the size that you really want to use. Again, uncheck the DX option. The Indeo test doesn't matter at this point, the drivers were installed the first time around.
Extract the 24MB 3dfx patch, and run the usepatch.exe file.
The patch has a bug in it, and because of this, you must run the the usepatch.exe file again.
Once you've done this, your shortcut to POD probably won't work properly, so you'll need to re-create it (Look for the EXE file in [C:\UBISOFT\POD], point your shortcut to this)
Everything should work normally, and you should be able to add tracks and cars as normal (Remember to use the CD-Patcher version 2).
If you are still stuck, I won't be able to help any further, because this method was provided by someone else, and I don't have Windows NT4, so I can't do any tests.
