DOAC: Will the singles stages be playable for tag in DOA4, and why are they not in other DOA games?
Itagaki: No, because not even the X-Box 360 would be able to handle having such detailed and interactive environments while also running 4 characters. (Drawing our own conclusions, we decided this was probably the reason the X-Box freezes during the tag glitch).
DOAC: Will DOA4 show on screen in sparring what level hit you have executed (high, mid or low)?
Itagaki: Yes.
DOAC: Is the countering system going to be more complex in DOA4, and will countering do more damage than it did in DOA3?
Itagaki: The counters in DOA4 will be more offensive and aggressive, there will be more counters that launch or put your opponent back turned. And yes they will do more damage.
DOAC: How many points will the counter system have in DOA4?
Itagaki: For the casual player, it will be the same 4-point counter system. But for the high level player, it will be a 6-7-point counter system. Also certain characters will have special or advanced counters (Like Lei-Fang and Bayman’s advanced counters in DOA3).
DOAC: Will DOA4 demonstrate moves in sparring?
Itagaki: Yes.
DOAC: Will DOA4 have 2 player sparring?
Itagaki: No, there is no point (Itagaki believes that if a game needs that much practice it isn’t worth playing).
DOAC: Will DOA4 online play be upgraded so the things that are guaranteed offline are sill guaranteed online?
Itagaki: In the US, in the best situation, there will always be a 40 millisecond delay. You have to learn to adjust how you play to fit that delay.
DOAC: Will there be non-ranked matches in DOA4 online?
Itagaki: No. However, a good compromise might be to let the Higher ranked players choose to not take points from a lower ranked players. This might be an option in DOA4.
